Reasons why I should recycle and how it all works
Q. I have heard of The Data Protection Act but that is all about computers.
Why do I need a confidential data destruction service?
A. Data includes business and personal records in paper
form in the files. This could include all personal details including home addresses,
bank accounts, credit ratings and all details to enable Personal Identity theft.
Confidential business data could include accounts, legal documentation, and
details of new products.
Q. How do you ensure the secure destruction of the data?
A. The vehicle comes to you, at your premises, where
the material can be shredded in front of you. All our Operators are security
screened to BS 7858, however they do not sort the paper, the documents are
emptied directly into the shredding chamber.
Q. How do you charge for
the service?
A. We charge either by;
- weight, all our On-Site vehicles are equipped with built in scales with
printout facility giving you the actual amount shredded, without any extra
times calculated in for collection of the material from around the site,
or
- individual unit, such as sack, archive box, secure container or fixed
price.
Q. I understand you will provide me with a free Certificate of Destruction
for the material destroyed. When do I get this?
A. The Certificate of Destruction is also your Waste
Transfer Note and is issued to you at the time of the shredding. This Waste
Transfer Note is a legal document, and should be retained by you for at least
2 years. We also retain a copy.
Q. What happens to the shredded material?
A. We aim to recycle 100% of all paper shredded.
Q. What else do you recycle?
A. We view shredding and recycling of confidential paper
as a small part of the chain of recycling of used office materials. We can
arrange collection and recycling of most products, which have exhausted their
first use, and are ready to be either reduced to their constituent parts
for these to be recycled , or reformed into similar units. See Recycling web
page.
